Seminar Information
Dr. Xu will talk about his lab’s work on hippocampal circuit organization, and relevant neural circuit mapping in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) animal models. He will also present their work of single-cell genomics and epigenomics analysis of AD pathogenesis using mouse models and human specimens along with the unconventional degu model. He will conclude with his lab’s newly developed technological and conceptual advances that present new opportunities for advancing neural circuit studies in health and disease.
Dr. Xiangmin Xu is Chancellor's Professor and Director of the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping at UC Irvine. He has a strong background in biology, engineering and medicine. His lab’s research program focuses on neural circuit mechanisms that underlie neurological disease, visual perception, and learning and memory. His team uses a multidisciplinary approach, and their recent direction is to apply neural circuit findings towards treating brain disorders including Alzheimer's disease.
