Speaker Bio

Dr. Narayan Bhattarai is a Professor of Bioengineering at North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T), where he directs the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Laboratory and oversees the Undergraduate Bioengineering Program. He earned his M.S. in Chemistry from Tribhuvan University and his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Jeonbuk National University. He subsequently completed postdoctoral training at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Since joining NC A&T in 2010, Dr. Bhattarai has established a research program focused on bio-nanomaterials, polymers, tissue engineering, and nanomedicine. He has mentored more than 50 undergraduate and graduate students and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, five book chapters, four U.S. patents, and numerous conference abstracts. His contributions have been recognized with several honors, including election as an AIMBE College Fellow in 2024 and the Most Cited Paper Award from Elsevier’s Journal of Controlled Release. He also served as Program Chair for the 38th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference in 2022. His current research focuses on developing innovative biomaterials for wound healing and tissue engineering applications.
