Enrich student learning!
With your support, our department continues to make significant strides in its mission to educate tomorrow’s bioengineering leaders, conduct advanced research, and drive innovation.
Support the New Undergraduate Instructional Laboratory
First UC San Diego facility that encompasses a bioelectronics innovation lab, tissue culture lab, and vivarium all in one
A state-of-the-art facility, created by lab instructors, will support bioengineering, biotechnology and biosystems students and will more than double the size of the Chien-Lay Department of Bioengineering's main lab and triple the space for undergraduate cell culture. This expansion allows for increased enrollment and multiple lab course sections in biosystems, bioelectronics, genomics, and biomechanics.

Bioengineering Excellence and Innovation Fund
Fund: 3090
Your gracious donations provide opportunities for:
- New Undergraduate Instructional Lab prepares students for tomorrow's challenges today - your generous donations will help support an instructional lab renovation that benefits undergraduate students by transforming educational space in the Powell Focht Bioengineering Hall. The expansion will enhance undergraduate education by increasing teaching lab capacity, increasing the number of labs that an undergraduate can take, and/or offering labs multiple times per year. This is critical laboratory expansion affecting time-to-degree and the undergraduate student experience.
- Research Conference Travel enriches educational experiences - allows Bioengineering students to participate in National Scientific/Engineering Scholarly Conferences and Competitions
- Senior Design projects help students realize innovation and are highly relevant to future careers in Bioengineering by promoting teamwork, leadership, and professional skills
- Supporting our students through building community which allows outreach, recruitment, retention and advancement of students with a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion through networking activities, workshops, and event
